More than 1000 people have rolled up their sleeves at a COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination clinic at the Warwick Showgrounds which started yesterday.

The clinic will remain open until Saturday 28 August with appointments still available.

The clinic will be open weekdays from 7.30am to 6.30pm and on Saturday morning from 7.30am to 11.30am.

Everyone aged 16 years and above is encouraged to attend the vaccination clinic. However, residents over 60 years are reminded that Astra Zeneca is the preferred vaccination for that age group.

Registrations and bookings can be done online via (when registering online, select “any other eligible criteria” to complete your form). Or people are welcome to present to the clinic without a booking for a vaccination.

“With the emerging situation in New South Wales, it is imperative that we provide increased opportunity for vaccinations for communities across the Southern Downs,” Annette Scott, Executive Lead for the Darling Downs Health Emergency Operations Centre, said.

“Vaccinations will provide a greater level of protection for Warwick, and other towns near the border, against COVID-19.”

If you plan to attend the clinic, please bring ID, your Medicare card, and a pen.

People who have received one dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine, which has been provided recently through GPs and Aboriginal Medical Services, should receive a second dose of Astra Zeneca and not a Pfizer vaccine. If you are unsure which vaccine you have received, talk to doctor or health care worker.
