With the completion of the works to expand the Toowoomba Hospital emergency department, the bus stop temporarily located on Pechey Street will be relocated back on-campus at the Toowoomba Hospital.

Darling Downs Health Chief Executive Annette Scott PSM said that the bus stop would be relocated on-campus in front of the Toowoomba Hospital.

“Moving the bus stop back on campus will provide a safe place for people to get on and off the bus and allows for easy pedestrian and disability access to the hospital campus.

“There is an important memorial honouring Dr Roger Guard and Dr Jill Guard that will need to be relocated in order to widen the road for bus access. The widening of the road impacts the current location of the granite bench and memorial plaque.

“We are encouraging families, our staff, and other community members who would like to be involved in ensuring the memorial continues to appropriately recognise those acknowledged, to contact us.

“Thank you to our patients, our staff, and the community for your understanding during the construction of the emergency department expansion.”

If you would like to be involved in providing feedback for the acknowledgments of Dr Roger Guard and Dr Jill Guard, please email ddh_media@health.qld.gov.au

To ensure the safety of people using the bus and those walking around the hospital campus, we will continue to work with Toowoomba Regional Council in the relocation of the bus stop.
