Darling Downs Health is delighted to welcome the first baby born across the Darling Downs region in 2026.

The newborn arrived just after midnight at Dalby Hospital, bringing joy and excitement to the start of the new year.

‘Baby Bacon’ was born to proud parents Nick and Bree Bacon at 12.08am on New Years Day.

Nick Bacon said the family was thrilled to welcome their second child.

“Our daughter now has a brother and we’re all very happy and a bit emotional,” Mr Bacon said.

“Being the first born on the Darling Downs might be a sign for a future of firsts for our son and gives him some early bragging rights.”

He also expressed gratitude to the maternity team.
